COTTON (Fine 4 hrs)
Material & Process:
2 pounds of Cotton Linter is Beat to a Pulp for 4 hours using a Reina brand Hollander beater. Water is partially strained, so that the Cotton Linter can be condensed into a plastic 5-gallon bucket for delivery, pickup and/or shipping.
Pulp Use:
Scoop the Cotton (Fine) Pulp from buckets into desired container and mix with Water. Cotton (Fine) are fine, short, small, smooth fibers beat to run through: syringe, dropper, squeeze bottle or spray bottle. This Type Beat is best for Pulp Imaging, Pulp Painting and Pigment Layering. Mix Cotton (Fine) with Pigment, Retention Aid and Water for consistent color.
Internal Sizing:
We add 1 tbsp of sizing per pound of fiber. Sizing is added to the pulp during the last 10 minutes of beating. Internal Sizing reduces the potential for absorbency, lessening the potential for bleeding of inks, paints or pigments. Sizing protects the fiber from oils, dirt and debris. Chicago Pulp uses Alkylketene Dimer liquid sizing concentrate.
