Our Studio Sessions offer intensive, concentrated, individual studio time in a professional Papermaking Studio with support provided by our Papermill & Studio Managers. This offering is for Artists/Makers with a designated timeline, project or intention in mind. The Papermill & Studio are blocked off and designated for the Artist/Maker during this period. Chicago Pulp staff are on-site and available for physical, technical and conceptual support for the entire duration of the Studio Session.
Studio Sessions include the following offerings: Chicago Pulp provides and prepares all Fiber and Pulp, access to Water (Two-Basin Sink, 2 Hose Systems), a Power Wash Station, Squeegees, Internal Sizing, Reten, Methyl Cellulose, PEO, PNS, Pigments Pellons, Felts, Floor Drains, Buckets, Strainers, Cups, Syringes, Spoons, a range of Moulds, Variety of Deckle Boxes, Multiple Vats, Fans, Restraint Dryer Box System, Air-Dry Zones + Spurs, Tailored Beater recipes and includes Hydraulic Press and Dry Box Loads daily.
Our Studio Sessions are a minimum of 3 days; running studio access from 10:00am-4:00pm, with a lunch break between 12:30pm-1:30pm.(available for individual artists, groups or organizations)

This offering aims to provide a platform for us to discuss, test, and formulate a plan to process your personal fiber. This is a hybrid offering an initial intake phone call and in person process. Allowing us to clarify if there are no hidden synthetics in the material (such as nylon, spandex or polyester.) We will evaluate your fiber so that we can determine if your fiber type is a suitable fit for us to process, while allowing us to develop a pulp processing recipe tailored to your intentions.

Schedule a Paper Browsing Session to see at our current paper selection in stock and available for purchase. Our paper prices are based on Fiber type, Labor, Process and Dimensions. We primarily process: Cotton, Abaca, Sisal, Flax, Hay and Thai Kozo; dimensions and quantity variable.

We offer you a walkthrough of our Papermill & Studio. Our tours include an overview of who we are, what we do and how we do it while offering a look at each of our core tools, equipment and primary fibers. After our tour you’re welcome to browse our Handmade Paper stock, or just talk with us more about Chicago Pulp and Hand Papermaking. Tours must be scheduled by appointment only. A maximum of 4 people are allowed per individual party.

We offer groups a walkthrough of our Papermill & Studio. Our tours include an overview of who we are, what we do and how we do it while offering a look at each of our core tools, equipment and primary fibers. After our tour groups are welcome to browse our Handmade Paper stock, or just talk with us more about Chicago Pulp and Hand Papermaking. Tours must be scheduled by appointment only. This Tour option is best fit for larger groups with 5 or more persons, organizations, collectives and/or schools

This offering aims to discuss fiber, exchange information, provide clarification, strategize, share resources. Consultations can also be helpful to clarify any sort of goals, intentions or ideations that you may have for your practice or project. Consultations available for scheduling in-person, via phone call and/or virtual meetings.
