PRIVATE STUDIO Sessions

Our Private Studio Sessions offer intensive, concentrated, individual studio time in a professional Papermaking Studio with support provided by our team. This offering is for artists, makers and practitioners with a designated timeline, a specific project, clear goals and intentions in mind.

What We Offer

The entire Studio is reserved for the entire duration of your Private Studio Session. Chicago Pulp staff are on-site and available for physical, technical and conceptual support for the duration of the Private Studio Session. (available for individual artists, groups or organizations) .

Our Private Studio Sessions start at a minimum of 3 days; running studio access from 10:00am-4:00pm, with a lunch break between 12:30pm-1:30pm.

Chicago Pulp is a 1628-square-foot basement studio (that actually gets tons of sunlight) located on the Southside of Chicago in Bridgeport. The building has 4 restrooms, a freight elevator, and ramp access in the rear.
Wet Studio Tools & Equipment:
Access to Water (Two-Basin Sink, Multi-Hose System), a Power Wash Station, Shims, Squeegees, Pellons, Felts, Floor Drains, Buckets, Strainers, Cups, Syringes, Spoons, a range of Moulds, Variety of Deckle Boxes, Multiple Vats, Fans, 48in x 48in Restraint Dryer Box System, Air-Dry Zones + Spurs, a 48in×48in Hydraulic Press, (10) 6-Foot folding tables, 2 Refrigerators, and Microwave.
Dry Studio Tools & Equipment:
Dry Fiber stock, Scissors, Fiber Shredder, Cutting mat, X-Acto Knives, Tape, Pencils, Pens, Sharpies, Water Color pencils, newsprint, sample books, our lil’ library selection of books, levels, rulers, iron, ear protection, measuring tape, B&W printer and mylar.
Internal Sizing, Retention Agent, Methyl Cellulose, PEO Formation Aid, PNS Formation Aid, Pigments. Fibers vary by season but you can usually expect that we will have: Cotton, Abaca, Sisal, Flax, or Denim.
Chicago Pulp provides physical, technical and conceptual support, prepares all Fiber and Pulp processing specific to each fiber type and its intended use.
