COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is a high-intensity, 2-day Witchy Workshop Weekend! Participants will cook Hay fiber, record recipes, beat and form the Hay into a handmade sheets of paper.
Participants will start by cutting Hay down into 1 inch pieces, soak the Hay for 24 hours, cook Hay in Soda Ash, then clean it, beat in a Reina Hollander beater, and finally participants will pull Hay sheets by hand using a Mould & Deckle, then couch, hydraulic press and finally restraint dry!
Fiber: The Indiana Hay that we use is a multi-grass fiber from Hook Pottery Paper & Turkey Foot Farm in LaPorte Indiana.Participants will gain hands on experience working with Hay fiber while learning about the historical and environmental contexts of Indiana Hay.
SCHEDULE: Class meets on Saturday October 24th and Sunday October 25th from 11:00AM to 4:00PM, both days.
MATERIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Bring your own boots & clothes you're comfortable getting wet. Fiber, Materials & Equipment Provided.
***Please Note: We will be cooking outdoors with Soda Ash, in the natural elements, standing, moving indoors, shifting between environments, experiencing a variety of temperatures & conditions.***
